Nineteen years ago, I came to this country not speaking the language and not understanding the culture. I began working with Burlington children in our community schools, which gave me great insight into this community and its values. 19 years later, I know our community, including those most underserved and disenfranchised. I have worked tirelessly throughout my life and my career for justice and to bring the voices of the underrepresented to the forefront. I have also been bringing people together, designing projects and programs geared towards giving people hope and confidence to meet their life goals. All of my accomplishments have been done in collaboration with others. We have accomplished much together with a passion for service and a love of Vermont and its people.

Chittenden-18 deserves leadership that puts people first. Our district needs a representative who takes actions, brings people together, and is focused on solving problems not deepening divisions. We need a leader who understands the challenges facing working families, seniors, small businesses, and young people, and who is ready to do the hard work necessary to move Vermont forward.
My name is Ali Dieng, and I am proud to announce my candidacy for the Vermont House of Representatives representing Chittenden-18.
Nearly 20 years ago, I came to the Green Mountain State believing in the promise that hard work, service, and community can change lives. My story is the story of many New Americans who came here not just seeking opportunity, but seeking a chance to contribute. Vermont welcomed me, and I have dedicated myself to giving back through public service, community leadership, and advocacy.
As a husband, father of two young girls, former Burlington City Councilor, board member of the Community Health Center, educator, and community advocate, I have seen firsthand the challenges Vermonters face every day. Rising housing costs, workforce shortages, an aging population, and increasing health care expenses are making it harder for families and businesses to thrive.
I am running because Vermont deserves leadership that is accessible, transparent, and accountable. Leadership that listens before it acts. Leadership that works collaboratively to build solutions that strengthen our communities and improve quality of life for everyone.
My priorities include:
