“NNE Dems pick Ali Dieng to run in special election”

“New North End Democrats have endorsed Ali Dieng, a West African immigrant and Burlington school outreach coordinator, as their candidate for a soon-to-be empty seat on the Burlington City Council.

Ward 7’s outgoing councilor, Democrat Tom Ayres, is stepping down from the council in June because of a new job in Randolph.

In a three minute speech before voting began, Dieng spoke about the need to bring transportation options to North Avenue, work to increase affordable housing and access to quality childcare and early childhood education, and to protect the waters of Lake Champlain.”” [Read the full article here].
